The latest draft of the South Warwickshire Local Plan – being prepared jointly by Stratford and Warwick District Councils – was published on Monday 18 May.
The good news is that none of the sites near Tanworth earmarked for major housing or industrial developments over the next few years have made it through to the next stage. So, the controversial sites near Danzey Station and Portway/Penn Lane are safe – for the time being.
The main losers are Hatton, Henley, Stratford upon Avon itself and Long Marston.

The one major concern is the proposal to designate Tanworth village as a Local Service Centre, as distinct from Earlswood and Wood End which are to be Rural Service Centres.
Being a Local Service Centre would allow Stratford to alter the Built Up Area Boundary to allow the inclusion of sites just outside the present village.
Allowing housing on sites near Bates Lane, Oxtalls, Tom Hill and Butts Lane would fundamentally alter the rural nature of the village.
